Biography
Dr Anna Sharman is a Consultant Radiologist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Her specialist interest is thoracic radiology, particularly early detection of lung cancer. Anna has co-developed the nationally recognised, award winning, RAPID programme at Wythenshawe hospital, described as an exemplar service for the delivery of the National Optimum Lung Cancer Pathway (NOLCP). She has set up a highly successful tertiary lung biopsy service taking referrals from across the region.
Dr Sharman became the Director of Radiology for the £4.2M North Manchester Lung Health Check/Lung Cancer Screening programme following the success of the pilot in 2016 and since 2019 has been the Responsible Radiologist for the Greater Manchester Targeted Lung Health Check programme/ Lung Cancer Screening, which is now part of the NHS England’s pilot programme.
She is the clinical lead for the Annalise CXR AI clinical decision support tool for MFT which went live across the whole trust in October 2024, part of the wider Greater Manchester initiative. MFT was awarded £500k, part of the £3.2M awarded to GM from the NHSE Artificial Intelligence Diagnostic Fund.
She sits on the steering committee for BTOG and has been on the NHSE Lung Cancer Screening Advisory Group.
Anna has been an invited speaker at regional, national and international conferences and is a co-author on many peer-reviewed papers.
Dr Sharman has been an active participate and advocate of REAL (Radiology Events and Learning) throughout her radiology career, spanning over 20 years and is delighted to be involved in the RCR REAL faculty.

Biography
Marion Durand M.D Ph.D is a French thoracic surgeon working in Paris, France. Graduated from med school in 2006 she started as senior consultant in 2011.
In 2014, she started one of the first European thoracic robotic program and has performed more than 1400 procedures. She has also developed a pediatric robotic thoracic program with pediatric French university centers since 2017. Involved in anatomical lung resection she has special interest in sub-lobar resection, neo adjuvant treatment, 3D pre op planning and new technologies.
She has developed a specific 4-arm closed chest staple less approach, favoring technical skills over devices use, for surgeon hard skills, safety, economic and ecologic benefit.
She is involved in training and teaching programs and masterclass for robotic thoracic surgery in Europe and Internationally. Since 2022 she chairs the robotic thoracic task force of EACTS. Since 2013, through NGO, she goes yearly in Cambodia to accompany the development of thoracic surgery in the country.
In 2022 she developed a new thoracic surgery department in a private hospital “Groupe Hospitalier Ambroise Paré Hartmann” in Paris. In 2024, she started the first French endobronchial shape sensing navigation program. Starting with diagnosis she aims to develop an endobronchial treatment program soon.

Dr Greg Mogel, MD, serves as 4DMedical’s Chief Medical Officer. Greg is a practicing radiologist and physician executive with a long career in medicine and engineering serving in government, academia, and industry. He is dedicated to making healthcare more affordable, effective, and compassionate.
With a focus on process improvement and clinical redesign, he previously held multiple leadership roles at Kaiser Permanente—playing a central role in the establishment of Lung Cancer Screening across the largest integrated healthcare delivery system in the United States.
A proud veteran, Greg received numerous awards and citations for his service in the United States Army Medical Corps. He is also a past board member for the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University.
A frequent national speaker, Greg has extensive experience in the practical applications of Advanced Medical Technology. Greg remains engaged in teaching, clinical practice and research and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Biography
Dr Peter George is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and the Clinical Lead of the Interstitial Lung Disease Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital.
Dr George was awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine in 2009 and secured funding from the Medical Research Council for his higher degree. He completed his PhD at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Jane Mitchell, focusing on the role of the innate immune system in pulmonary vascular inflammation.
He subsequently received specialist training in interstitial lung disease at both Hammersmith and Royal Brompton Hospitals in London as well as National Jewish Health Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
He is actively involved in basic science and clinical research with an honorary clinical senior lecturer role at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London where he is currently supervising BSc and PhD students. Since 2020, Dr George has been developing and validating artificial intelligence-powered CT based imaging biomarkers for patients with interstitial lung disease at Brainomix where he is the Senior Medical Director. Leveraging his clinical and academic experience, his team have discovered novel radiomic signatures in the CT scans of patients with interstitial lung disease with patents granted and FDA clearances. This novel AI technology has the potential to transform the management of patients with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis by speeding up the delivery of new pharmaceuticals in clinical trials and in the evaluation of patients in routine clinical practice.

Biography
Dr Fiona McDonald gained a first-class BA (Hons) medical sciences degree from Cambridge University in 1994, and in 1997 qualified from Barts and The London School of Medicine. She then completed her general medical training at St. Mary’s Hospital before specialising in oncology at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr McDonald’s work and research has been recognised and awarded throughout her career. She was awarded the Frank Doyle Medal from the Royal College of Radiologists in 2002, and her research degree at The Institute of Cancer Research gained her the president’s prize. This award recognised her research into individualised image-guided adaptive radiotherapy techniques for lung and bladder tumours, completed between 2008 and 2012, including implementation of lung stereotactic radiotherapy for early stage and oligometastatic lung tumours in 2009.
In 2012, Dr McDonald was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden, where her research aims to improve outcomes by developing individualised approaches to lung radiotherapy through integration of novel functional imaging and targeted biological agents with advanced radiotherapy technologies. These techniques include stereotactic/CyberKnife radiotherapy,
intensity-modulated and image-guided adaptive radiotherapy.
The Thoracic Radiotherapy Group at the ICR was set up by Dr McDonald in October 2015.

Biography
Mr Eric Lim studied at the University of Sheffield and trained in cardiothoracic surgery in Cambridge and London.
He was the recipient of an MRC scholarship and was awarded an MSc in Biostatistics and an MD for surgical research.
He joined the Royal Brompton Hospital in 2007 as a consultant thoracic surgeon and leads the hospital’s Cancer Research Consortia.
Mr Lim specialises in thoracic surgical diseases, with a strong focus on patient care, aspiring to make thoracic surgery that causes the least amount of pain and disruption to the patient’s life as possible.
Holding leadership positions both nationally and internationally places Mr Lim at the forefront of his speciality, providing balanced and authoritative opinions on patient and clinical care for patients with advanced lung cancer, where surgery is being considered or when patients who have been declined surgery because they were considered too high risk.

Biography
Professor Popat has both a private and an NHS practice at The Royal Marsden. He is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden, Professor of Thoracic Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research and is an internationally recognized expert in the treatment of lung cancer, mesothelioma and cancers of the thymus (thymoma and thymic carcinoma).
Professor Popat qualified in 1994 from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals with triple distinction and was awarded a PhD in Molecular Genetics in 2002, undertaking a postdoctoral Clinician Scientist Fellowship and a HEFCE Clinical Senior Lectureship thereafter. He has been awarded nationally and internationally competitive prizes for his research, in addition to four research fellowships. His research interests include
the complexities of genetic profiling in cancer, as well as developing novel drug treatments through clinical trials.
He also holds several national and international roles. Nationally, Professor Popat Chairs the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Steering Committee, is Co-Director for the NIHR London South Clinical Research Network Cancer Division, the NIHR Lung Cancer National Specialty Lead and is past Sub-group Chair of the NCRI Lung Group. Internationally, he sits on the Foundation Council of the European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP) and is active in the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) where he has co-authored European Clinical Practice Guidelines for Small Cell Lung Cancer, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, and Mesothelioma. His research collaborations with industry have led to licensing of several drugs globally, leading to implementation in International treatment guidelines and NHS funding approvals.
Professor Popat is often an invited Clinical Expert to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and sits on several committees overseeing the safety and governance for ongoing UK and international clinical trials. Sanjay is a strong advocate for patient education and support and is clinical advisor to several patient-facing cancer charities.

Dr Kyle Hogarth, MD, FCCP, is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at The University of Chicago. He is the Director of Bronchoscopy and is heavily involved in the field of advanced bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonary with numerous publications. He co-directs the lung cancer screening program and established the nodule clinic at the University.
Dr Hogarth received his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at The University of Chicago. He has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Chest, ERJ and many other journals. He previously served on the editorial board of CHEST, where he was
the section editor for the podcast section and giants in chest medicine series. He has won numerous clinical awards and teaching awards from his University and International Societies.
