Biography

Marion Durand M.D Ph.D is a French thoracic surgeon working in Paris, France. Graduated from med school in 2006 she started as senior consultant in 2011.

In 2014, she started one of the first European thoracic robotic program and has performed more than 1400 procedures. She has also developed a pediatric robotic thoracic program with pediatric French university centers since 2017. Involved in anatomical lung resection she has special interest in sub-lobar resection, neo adjuvant treatment, 3D pre op planning and new technologies. 

She has developed a specific 4-arm closed chest staple less approach, favoring technical skills over devices use, for surgeon hard skills, safety, economic and ecologic benefit.

She is involved in training and teaching programs and masterclass for robotic thoracic surgery in Europe and Internationally. Since 2022 she chairs the robotic thoracic task force of EACTS. Since 2013, through NGO, she goes yearly in Cambodia to accompany the development of thoracic surgery in the country. 

In 2022 she developed a new thoracic surgery department in a private hospital “Groupe Hospitalier Ambroise Paré Hartmann” in Paris. In 2024, she started the first French endobronchial shape sensing navigation program. Starting with diagnosis she aims to develop an endobronchial treatment program soon.
